Defending Truth and Justice Through Social Media

There is no denying the fact that we see what our people are enduring in neighboring Sudan. The suffering and violence inflicted upon South Sudanese refugees by extremist Arab Muslim and Jihadist forces is a tragedy that demands international attention.

However, social media is not the enemy—it is the tool through which these atrocities are exposed to the world. It is through these platforms that the stories of our people’s pain reach global audiences, mobilizing solidarity, support, and intervention. Shutting down social media does not protect our people; it silences them, leaving their suffering hidden and their plight ignored.

South Sudanese must understand that if our people are subjected to hidden violations, the government of South Sudan bears responsibility.

To all military organizations, police, national security, and other legal forces: overthrowing a government that does not work in the interest of the nation is not against the constitution, always put in mind that;

“When a government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the right of the people to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new government.” and “Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable.”

We cannot afford to shield the world from the truth of what is happening. If anything, this is the time to amplify these stories, to demand justice for the innocent lives lost, and to hold those responsible accountable. Censoring social media only serves to weaken our voice in the international community and denies our citizens the right to express themselves and share their realities.

Rather than blocking access, we should use these platforms to unite, educate, and raise awareness. Let us show the world the resilience and strength of South Sudan, even in the face of adversity. Social media is not the problem—it is a tool for exposing the problem. Let us not lose sight of the real enemy.
